In 1931, Edward and Dolphin Hane hosted a dinner party at their farm with their family and friends. The dolphin prepared for this salad party using canned pea peppers. Within 12 days, 12 of them became ill and died. Edward and Dolphin and their three children were among these victims. Authorities recognized that their deaths were due to canned canines. These canned foods contain poisonous substances that cause botulism poisoning. Symptoms include blurred vision and difficulty talking and swallowing.
