He was adventurous enough to combine renowned names with emerging collaborators and, even at the beginning of his own experiences as a composer, to create fresh though short-lived musical experiments. One need only listen to the two songs “Naneh Sarma” and “Khande Dareh,” both written by Masoud Mahmoudi and composed by Sepehr himself, to appreciate the distinct atmosphere of these songs—their simple, contemporary, and engaging expression and themes.

His familiarity with the music scene of that decade led him to seek arrangements from the French arranger Eric, whose influence on Iranian popular music of the 1970s was considerable and who, to some extent, introduced a transnational musical grammar into contemporary sound. His presence in Filmfarsi cinema and collaboration with Hossein Vasseghi—who composed songs for many of the commercial films of the 1970s—was part of the same trajectory.
