The earthquake and subsequent tsunami killed at least 521 people, 56 disappeared and 12,000 were injured. More than 800,000 people were displaced, and in the whole of Chile, more than 1,800,000 people were affected by the earthquake. The damage to the earthquake is estimated at more than $ 30 billion.
