A successful basketball coach needs much more than an understanding of how to play the game — so much so that many winning basketball coaches find success despite never having been top players. A basketball coach must be able to manage the administrative duties of the job, recruit top players, get them in shape, create a team, motivate players and teach them how to play the game.
