China has its traditional “Big four” state-owned domestic car manufacturers: Shanghai General Motors (in partnership with GM), Dongfeng, FAW, and Chang’an. BAIC frequently challenge Chang’an as the fourth largest automaker. Guangzhou Automotive is also state-owned.
