In May of 2019, the couple announced their engagement following two years of dating, per a statement from Johansson’s publicist. They reportedly initially met in 2006 when Johansson hosted SNL for the first time, but didn’t become romantically entangled until 2017, following Johansson’s divorce from Dauriac. They made their first public appearance as a couple in November of that year and have since appeared on numerous red carpets together.
