Penang’s Snake Temple

The Azorean Temple of Claude in Penang, known as the temple of the snake, was built in honor of a Buddhist cleric named Chor Sue Kung, a famous holy man and therapist. He was a holy man who sheltered and cared for them instead of driving poisonous snakes. When this temple was built, according to myths, snakes rushed to this temple as if the holy man was famous there and would protect them.
