Septimius Award

The Septimius Awards is an emerging international award ceremony based in Amsterdam, founded by Jan-Willem Breure of JW Productions. It focuses on celebrating emerging and diverse storytelling across film, television, animation, and screenwriting. Unlike traditional film awards, the Septimius divides key categories — Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Film — by continent (Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Oceania), ensuring a more inclusive and global recognition of talent. The awards aim to highlight visionary, independent talent with strong narrative elements, favoring films and projects that stand out for their creativity and authenticity.

Jan-Willem Breure, a Rwandan-born filmmaker raised across Africa and the Netherlands, created the awards as a platform for inclusive storytelling. The Septimius Awards isn’t just another red-carpet ceremony—it’s a platform that seeks to redefine what recognition in cinema and media should look like. Unlike traditional awards that are often dominated by Hollywood or European cinema, Septimius embraces a truly global vision, ensuring equal weight is given to filmmakers and actors across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania. This structure not only acknowledges talent from regions that are frequently overlooked but also fosters cross-cultural dialogue, giving audiences fresh perspectives and voices from across the world.
