Chronicler Life Through Film

Born in Ahvaz, on May 14, 1951, Kianoush Ayari embarked on his filmmaking journey in the early 1970s. He was part of the “Free Cinema” movement, a collective of young  filmmakers who aimed to break away from mainstream cinema by creating experimental and socially conscious films. Ayari began with short 8mm films, capturing the social and political atmosphere of during that period. Ayari’s films are characterized by their realistic portrayal of society, often delving into complex social issues and human emotions.
