Make it a rule that your children are not allowed to answer the door if they are home by themselves. There are many predators out there who do not directly seek out children, but act only out of opportunity. A child who is home alone is not able to prevent an adult from forcing their way inside once they have opened the door, which leaves them vulnerable.
