Persian classical music has a long and sophisticated history, and the human voice has always held a particularly important place within it. Singers often perform poetry by some of the country’s greatest poets, including Hafez, Saadi, Rumi, and other important literary figures. The relationship between poetry and music gives Persian singing a distinctive emotional character. Mojgan Shajarian’s artistic background is deeply connected to this tradition, allowing her to approach music not simply as a form of entertainment but also as a way of expressing emotion, identity, memory, and culture.
