Growing up in New York, Bebe Rexha was surrounded by different cultures and musical influences. Her Albanian family background gave her a connection to her heritage, while living in the United States exposed her to a wide range of musical styles, including pop, rock, R&B, and hip-hop. She began developing her musical talents at a young age, learning about songwriting, singing, and musical performance. Rather than simply wanting to become a singer, she was interested in creating music and expressing her own ideas through lyrics and melodies.
Her determination and songwriting abilities helped her gain recognition in the music industry even before she became widely known as a performer. One of the early important stages of Bebe Rexha’s career came in 2010, when she joined Black Cards, a musical project created by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. The experience gave her an opportunity to develop her performance skills and explore electronic and alternative music. After leaving the project in 2012, she began focusing on her solo career and songwriting. In 2013, she signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.
