We received cartoons from all over the world, showing, for those who still doubted it, the universal dimension of the caricature and people’s attachment to freedom in the face of religious arbitrariness. We have selected the most accomplished, original and effective of the 300-plus drawings sent to us. In any case, all of them have the merit of having defied the authority that claims to be Leader, supposedly Supreme, as well as his cohort of servitors and hired killers. Obviously, there is no prize to be won, because attributing a first, second and third place would in effect devalue the other drawings. And anyway, what reward would be worthy of having the courage to say “no” to religious tyrants? Nevertheless, there is one reward that no-one can either buy or give, purely and simply because it is priceless, and that is freedom.
