One of the most interesting aspects of Fereydoon Jeyrani’s career is the way he developed his professional identity through different areas of filmmaking. Rather than beginning exclusively as a director, he first established himself as a screenwriter and journalist. This experience helped him understand the importance of storytelling, character development, dialogue, and dramatic structure. He entered the professional film industry in 1981 by writing the screenplay for Aftab-Neshin-ha.
During the following years, he continued working on screenplays before directing his first film in 1987. This transition from writing to directing gave him an opportunity to bring his own narrative ideas to the screen and develop a recognizable cinematic style. His background in journalism also influenced his approach to filmmaking. He demonstrated an interest in subjects that could generate discussion, challenge social expectations, and encourage audiences to reconsider familiar relationships and moral questions.
