The film is an adaptation of Travolta’s book of the same name, which he first published in 1997, and stars Ella. According to a press release, Travolta’s lifelong passion for aviation led him to write and illustrate the family-friendly book for his son in the 1990s. John shares three children with his late wife Kelly Preston, who died at 57 in 2020. In addition to Ella, the couple share son, who died at 16 in 2009, and younger son Benjamin, who turned 15 in November 2025.
The actor’s appearance in Cannes this May will mark his fourth movie at the festival, following his appearances in ’90s movies Pulp Fiction, She’s So Lovely and Primary Colors. Pulp Fiction famously won the festival’s Palme d’or award in 1994, while She’s So Lovely won Cannes’ award for Best Actor (Sean Penn) in 1997 and also received a Grand Prix award.
