The bar and lounge areas are dimly lit, but a mix of brightly coloured chairs and circus props give the space a sense of playfulness and theatricality. Rather than making you feel like you are getting away from it all, this is a stimulating, buzzy base for exploring the city. This is a hotel for the young at heart; check-in is done via iPad. The 75 rooms are bright and spacious, with big windows that look out on to the restaurants below. The walls are whitewashed and hung with antique bicycle wheels. In my room, the sink was close to the bed, and the shower and toilet were in frosted glass boxes, which didn’t allow for a great deal of privacy. But the bed was large and comfortable, and the blinds kept the light out. Loft rooms come with a balcony and all Wow rooms are accessible.
