Anyone who is close to the mum to be can throw a baby shower such as a best friend, work colleague or a neighbour. Traditionally baby shower etiquette dictates that the mum to be, their spouse or a family member shouldn’t organise the party, to avoid the perception of asking for gifts. However, this is no longer the case and it is acceptable for close family members to host the shower – although it is still unusual for the mother to be to organise her own celebration.
