From the get-go, this music video symbolizes a new and excitingly liberating era for Lil Nas X as he invites us into Montero, a fantasy world inspired by the bible and Greek mythology. The singer himself co-directed the visual with Tanu Muino (who also directed Cardi B’s “Up”). He also plays himself in multiple roles as he explores the trials of temptation and judgment in owning his sexuality. “I wrote this song myself, co-directed the video, and had to step way out of my comfort zone for this moment to take place tonight! I hope you guys love it!” he shared on Twitter on March 25.
