Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007, and again from 2013 to 2018. He played international cricket for two decades, and later developed philanthropic projects such as the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre and Namal College.
