On the last Wednesday evening before Nowruz, many people celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri, a fire-jumping festival. It’s an ancient tradition where people light bonfires and jump over them while chanting phrases like “Zardie man az tou, sorkhie tou az man,” meaning “Give me your beautiful red color, take my sickly yellow color.” This symbolizes purification, driving away evil, and welcoming the light and energy of spring.
