Sepideh Moafi is an American actress and singer whose career spans television, film, theater, and music. Born in September 1985 in a refugee camp in Regensburg, Germany, Moafi was raised in the United States after her parents fled following the Revolution and eventually received permission to relocate to America. Moafi developed a passion for music at an early age. She studied opera as a child and later became interested in musical theater and jazz. At 15, she began singing seriously, and within a year she earned a full scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2007.
She subsequently studied acting at the University of California, Irvine, earning an MFA in 2013. Her acting career includes a wide range of television and film roles. She appeared in shows such as The Blacklist, Limitless, Elementary, Notorious, and Black Box before gaining wider recognition as Loretta in HBO’s The Deuce. Her performance in the series placed her alongside actors including Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco and helped establish her as a distinctive presence in television drama.
