Picking leech

Due to the high demand for leech which was widely used in cupping, it was people who collected leeches from swamps and marshes. This job was seasonal and did not have a good income, and most people who ate leeches suffered from infection and bleeding. After the 1830s, the use of leech in medicine was reduced. In the twentieth century, this job was obsolete.
