Strengthening Resilience and Security

The National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) is a federal advisory body in the United States that provides strategic advice and recommendations to the President and the Secretary of Homeland Security on the security, resilience, and reliability of critical infrastructure. NIAC brings together senior leaders from the private sector, state and local governments, academia, and non-profits to address complex infrastructure challenges. Its work focuses on strengthening the nation’s ability to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from disruptions to critical systems.

NIAC members are appointed leaders and subject-matter experts with extensive experience across infrastructure sectors. They serve in an advisory capacity, offering independent insights and best practices rather than operational authority. Through studies, reports, and recommendations, NIAC helps shape national policy and preparedness strategies, ensuring that U.S. infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and capable of supporting economic stability and public safety.
