Emma started playing tennis at the age of five. Her parents, a shy child, encouraged her to try different hobbies to build confidence. She said. “Dad threw me into every sport you could imagine. I was riding, swimming, tap dancing, basketball, skiing, golf and go-karting. All alongside tennis.” At the age of 12, she won the first International Tennis Federation trophy under the age of 18. In 2018, she advanced to the Wimbledon Junior Quarter Finals.
