Ashraf Boroujerdi was born in 1957 (or 1336 in the calendar) and came from a notable family; she was the granddaughter of Ayatollah Ali Mohammad Boroujerdi and the sister of parliamentarian Alaeddin Boroujerdi. First female deputy in the Ministry of Interior after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, where she worked on social and local council affairs alongside senior ministers like Abdullah Nouri and Seyed Abdolvahed Mousavi Lari. Advocate for women’s rights and civil society issues, making her a significant figure in reform movement.
In 2016, Ashraf Boroujerdi was appointed by then-president Hassan Rouhani as the head of National Library and Archives Organization (NLAI), making her the first woman to lead this important cultural institution. She held the role until 2021 and was recognized for her efforts to develop cultural and archival affairs. Before leading the National Library, she also served as deputy for culture at the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies, where she worked on academic and cultural initiatives.
