The eight-episode miniseries was a passion project of the late actor James Gandolfini, which was set for production in 2013 with the title ‘Criminal Justice’. Prior to his death in 2013, Gandolfini was selected to star as a New York City attorney to take on the case of a Pakistani man (Riz Ahmed) charged with the murder of a girl on the Upper West Side.
