The Z-102 wouldn’t remain just a design showcase. With this first prototype as a springboard, Pegaso pursued outright performance, eventually producing versions capable of reaching over 150 mph, making it the fastest production car in the world at the time. These weren’t empty claims: in 1953, a Z-102 Touring-bodied Berlinetta set a top speed record, beating out Ferraris and Jaguars.
