The Story of Raper

Sefat is recognized for his innovative fusion of modern hip-hop beats with elements from traditional Persian music, creating a sound that is both culturally rich and sonically compelling. His lyrics often explore love, heartbreak, self-discovery, and social issues affecting Iranian youth. A significant incident in his life occurred in 2017, when, during a dispute between his mother and her husband (his stepfather), Hamid Sefat was involved in an altercation that led to his stepfather’s death. Initially charged with murder, the case was later reviewed.

In 2021, Supreme Court overturned a verdict of premeditated murder and downgraded the case to manslaughter, leading to his release. Hamid Sefat remains a compelling—and at times controversial—figure in hip-hop scene. With vibrant music that touches hearts and a career that has crossed into television, his journey underlines the power of creative expression, resilience, and complexity. Hamid Sefat started making music when rap was still heavily underground. With limited access to studios and distribution platforms, he and peers relied on home recordings, social media, and word of mouth to circulate tracks.
