The Voice That Defined a Nation

Like many public figures of the pre-revolution era, he became a target amid the political purges that followed. His association with the former state radio and his recognizable voice once a symbol of calm  now marked him in a dramatically changed. He was arrested by revolutionary forces and reportedly tortured.
