TV host

A TV talk show host, also called a TV personality, is the person who presents a television show. They may lead their own talk show where they invite guests to discuss a variety of topics, or they can work on a network show with other presenters. They often discuss current events, sports, business or health topics. There are many routes that TV personalities take to begin their careers. Some are famous reporters or celebrities, while others advance their way from TV assistant positions.

Consider developing industry knowledge and experience during high school. Many high schools offer student papers or student news programs. These can be great ways to develop interviewing and presenting skills. Some schools also offer communication or media courses where students can learn how to use television equipment. Consider starting at a small, local television network where there may be more entry-level opportunities. Many talk show hosts begin their careers as television reporters for local networks. While reporting, professionals can gain experience writing, editing and interviewing.
