The UN Population Fund says the incidence of child marriage has risen since the war erupted in 2014. From 1998 to 2003, Embassy sponsored the tournament, with the semi-finals and final taking place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield during the World Snooker Championship. After restrictions on tobacco advertising were introduced in 2003, the tournament lost its sponsorship and was not held in 2004.
