Pouran (born Farahdokht Abbas Khaghani, also known as Farahdokht Abbas Taleghani in some sources) was one of the most celebrated singers and actresses of the 20th century. Born on February 4, 1934, in Tehran,  she became one of the defining voices of Persian music during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. She was admired for her warm, expressive voice and her ability to perform both traditional Persian melodies and modern pop songs.

Pouran began her musical career in the early 1950s after studying under the renowned composer and violinist Abbas Shapoori, whom she later married. Her performances on Radio Tehran quickly gained popularity, making her a household name across. Throughout her career, she recorded hundreds of songs and collaborated with many of leading composers and lyricists.
