35 Years Without Haydeh

 

Following the 1979, Haydeh left and continued her career in exile, primarily in Los Angeles, which became a hub for the  diaspora. Despite living far from her homeland, her music remained a vital connection to culture for her fans. On January 20, 1990, Haydeh tragically passed away from a heart attack in San Francisco at the age of 47. Her untimely death left a void in the world of Persian music that remains to this day. On this 35th anniversary, we honor Haydeh’s enduring legacy and the profound impact of her art. Her songs continue to bring comfort, joy, and inspiration to countless people worldwide, proving that her voice and spirit remain timeless.

Hayedeh grew up in a musically inclined family. Her younger sister, Mahasti, also became a renowned Persian singer. Hayedeh’s professional journey began in the late 1960s when she was introduced to the public through radio. Her first major performance was the song “Azadeh,” composed by the legendary Ali Tajvidi, rooted in Persian classical music. Her strong vocal ability and emotional delivery quickly captured the hearts of audiences.
