The owner of the house was only able to live in his magnificent palace for 4 years; he passed away in 1878, and the house was inherited by his son Edward. It was turned into a hotel, and during the Second World War, the interior and exterior of the building were confiscated by Canadian soldiers. Between 1975 and 1971, this magnificent mansion gradually turned into a ruin where animals like cows and sheep roamed. After 15 years, the house was finally bought and restored by James Doyle, an antique collector.
