Following the 1979, Farrokhzad found himself in a difficult position. The overthrow of the Shah had led to the establishment of the Islamic Republic, which, under Ayatollah Khomeini’s leadership, adopted a strictly conservative and authoritarian political stance. Farrokhzad, who was known for his progressive ideals, could not align himself with the new regime, which he viewed as equally oppressive.
