A Global Force for Humanity and Hope

In conflict zones, it provides support to wounded individuals, ensures humane treatment of prisoners of war, and helps reconnect families separated by war. Additionally, the Red Cross plays a vital role in blood donation services, health education, and community resilience programs. Globally, the movement consists of three main components: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which focuses on conflict-affected areas; the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which coordinates disaster response; and national societies operating within individual countries.

Building on its long history of humanitarian service, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement continues to evolve to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. In recent years, it has expanded its focus beyond emergency response to include preparedness, resilience, and long-term recovery. This means not only helping communities after disasters occur, but also equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to reduce risks and better withstand future crises.
