When Abeer Sinder first noticed the lack of representation of black women from the region on social media and questioned why she had to draw makeup inspiration from foreign beauty influencers, she took matters into her own hands. Putting into action the phrase “be the change you wish to see in the world,” Sinder created a YouTube channel catering to black Arab women and became Saudi Arabia’s first black beauty vlogger. Abeer Sinder (also known by the handle Kali on social media) is a Saudi beauty & lifestyle influencer, entrepreneur, and content creator.
She is known especially for being one of the first (and still among the most prominent) Black Saudi beauty vloggers, and for using her platform to challenge beauty stereotypes, colorism, and to promote self-love and acceptance. From her childhood, Abeer experienced prejudice related to her dark skin. She recounts instances of bullying and hears terms that reinforced societal color biases. She started sharing beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. Her early content included tutorials, beauty tips, and reflections on identity, often touching on themes like skin care for textured hair, wig styling, skin positivity.
