During her university years, she participated in scientific research, including work related to heart-transplant rejection and cancer research. Her academic background initially led her toward a potential career in medicine before she eventually decided to pursue acting. After completing her university studies, Boniadi received formal theatrical training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, studying contemporary drama.
This marked the beginning of her transition from the sciences to a professional career in acting. One of her most prominent television roles came in the acclaimed series Homeland, in which she played Fara Sherazi, a CIA analyst. Her performance as Fara contributed to an ensemble nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Boniadi subsequently appeared in the science-fiction thriller series Counterpart, where she played Clare Quayle. Her film credits include Ben-Hur, in which she portrayed Esther, and Hotel Mumbai, in which she played Zahra Kashani opposite Dev Patel.
