Alongside her acting career, Boniadi has become widely known for her human rights advocacy, particularly her work concerning and women’s rights. She has worked with Amnesty International and has used her public platform to raise awareness about political repression, freedom of expression, women’s rights, and the treatment of prisoners of conscience.

From 2009 to 2015, she served as a spokesperson for Amnesty International USA. In 2020, she became an Amnesty International UK Ambassador. Her advocacy has included speaking before political institutions and international organizations, including the United States Congress, the White House, the British, Canadian, and Australian parliaments, the German Bundestag, and the United Nations.
