Though the Aga Khan’s success was powered by an all-world broodmare band, it was also fueled by a world-class stallion operation, with locations in Ireland and France. In addition to many of his successful homebreds, The Aga Khan Studs has been home to notable outside stallions including Sea the Stars and Redoute’s Choice. The Aga Khan’s operation also owns and operates Goffs, the leading Thoroughbred auction house in France, in which he became the majority shareholder in 2006. An avid fan and participant in many sports, The Aga Khan IV was also a competitive downhill skier, competing for Iran in the 1964 Winter Olympics.
