The UN says the war has caused ‘shocking levels of suffering,’ with reports in 2020 estimating 233,000 deaths so far, with 131,000 of those being caused by lack of food, healthcare and shelter. More than 10,000 children have been killed or injured. According to the UN refugee agency, about 66 per cent of Yemen’s 30 million people rely on humanitarian help for their daily survival, including over 4.2 million displaced people and 102,000 refugees and asylum seekers.
