He moved to London a year after graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran in 2009 with a master’s degree in cinema. He studied film in the capital and had returned to Iran to teach the subject to his countryfolk when he was killed. Iran International TV said the honour killing “has shocked the country”. It comes after Ali Fazeli Monfared, 20, was allegedly beheaded by his brother and cousin after they discovered he was gay in Iran.
