Between Isolation and Alliance

Belarus is a close ally of Russia, which itself has deepened ties with North Korea in recent years. A Lukashenko visit could be seen as part of a broader geopolitical alignment. If Alexander Lukashenko were to follow through with a visit to North Korea, the implications would extend beyond simple diplomacy. Such a move would likely be interpreted as part of a broader shift toward a more openly anti-Western alignment among certain states.

At the same time, countries aligned with Russia might view the visit more neutrally or even positively, depending on their strategic interests. The idea of this visit cannot be separated from wider global dynamics. Since the early 2020s, divisions between Western nations and certain other states have become more pronounced. Belarus, under Lukashenko, has increasingly positioned itself alongside Russia and other non-Western partners.
