Between Worlds, Within Words

Aghdashloo is currently developing her first feature film, an expansion of the themes she’s explored in her short works—memory, love, and displacement. The project reportedly bridges Persian and Western cinematic traditions, and has been supported by multiple film institutions. She continues to collaborate with international artists and collectives, creating interdisciplinary projects that merge film, poetry, and visual art. In interviews, she has expressed interest in experimenting with hybrid formats such as film-poetry, performance installations, and interactive media.

Her upcoming work aims to deepen her exploration of how women navigate identity in the face of societal and political pressures—an ongoing dialogue between the inner and outer worlds. Though still in the early phase of her filmmaking career, Tara Aghdashloo’s influence is growing. She represents a new generation of Iranian diasporic artists who are redefining how the world sees Iranian identity—beyond politics, through personal truth and beauty. Her commitment to emotional honesty, visual craft, and cultural hybridity places her among a small but powerful group of filmmakers who use art not only to tell stories, but to transform understanding.
