The And God Created Woman star has been recovering for nearly three weeks at a private hospital in the southeastern city of Toulon, France, after a recent surgery, French newspaper Var-Matin confirmed Oct. 17. The outlet noted that the 91-year-old reportedly underwent surgery due to a battle with a “serious illness,” noting that her condition is “worrying.” However, Bardot is still expected to be released from the hospital, where she was reportedly admitted in late September, in the coming days and return to her home in St. Tropez to continue recovery.
E! News has reached out to reps for Bardot regarding her hospital stay and health issue but has not yet heard back. Bardot’s latest hospital stay comes two years after emergency services were called to her home in 2023 when she began struggling to breathe, French media outlets reported at the time. “It was around 9 o’clock when Brigitte had trouble breathing,” her husband Bernard d’Ormale told Var-Matin at the time. “It was stronger than usual, but she didn’t lose consciousness… the fireman came and gave her oxygen and then stayed to monitor her.”
