As a photographer, you don’t have set office hours. Instead, you work when shoots, events and other jobs require it. This means photographers often work evenings and weekends, particularly if they’re photographing events, like weddings, sports matches or news stories. Your work usually involves some degree of travel, either because you’re travelling to local events or travelling across the country or overseas to photograph your subjects. Photographers often work on a freelance basis. Some photographers might also work for an agency, which can provide more consistent work but could also mean lower overall rates of pay.
