Reza Afshar was born in 1266 in Rezaiyeh. His father, Mirza Shafi Khan, was from Gorgan, and his mother was from the Afshar Rezaie clan. After completing his primary education, he started learning Arabic and Islamic studies, and in this way, he benefited greatly from the presence of great teachers such as Sheikh Jalil Adib al-Ulama. In 1283, he graduated from Urmia American School and then went to Tehran and continued his studies at the American College. In 1288, after finishing high school, he left for America to complete his studies.
