Meeting different groups of women

While Farah Pahlavi’s position remains largely symbolic, her presence continues to carry weight for many, especially women. She is seen not as a politician, but as a living link to an era in which women’s visibility and civic participation were expanding  however complex and contested that era may be. Her meetings this week were not broadcast or widely publicized. Yet word of them spread quickly across Persian-language social media, where users shared heartfelt messages of admiration and bittersweet longing for a different.
