Pioneer of Modern Arts

Marzban grew up in Sabzevar, where his early interest in storytelling and performance gradually evolved into a passion for theater. Seeking formal education, he entered the University of Tehran, graduating in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in acting and directing. His academic path later took him to the University of London, where he earned a master’s degree in directing and design. His artistic journey began in 1966 when he took to the stage as an actor. Over the following decades, Marzban became known for both his sophisticated directing style and his thoughtful, emotionally grounded performances. His productions often demonstrate a meticulous attention to design, narrative rhythm, and character psychology. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable playwrights, actors, and theater groups, staging works that explore social issues, human relationships, and cultural identity.
