Politics of Women and Family

Khazali has consistently promoted a vision of women centered on motherhood, family cohesion, and traditional moral roles. She has argued that Western feminist frameworks are incompatible with culture and has supported policies aimed at reinforcing gender separation, modest dress, and state oversight of social behavior. Supporters of her views claim such policies protect family stability and cultural identity. Critics, however, argue that these positions restrict women’s personal freedoms, limit career opportunities, and reinforce legal inequalities.

Within Iran, Khazali is a polarizing figure. Conservative media often present her as a defender of Islamic values and national identity, while reformist outlets and social media users frequently criticize her for supporting restrictive laws. Her statements have periodically gone viral, especially during moments of heightened public debate around women’s rights, protests, and compulsory hijab enforcement.
